Off to New Jersey!

Today we thought we would try to go out on our own to New Jersey. We did pretty well with the help of a couple New Yorkers to tell us the way. We did end of taking the Path Train to New Jersey. We wonder how they an build a system under water. That will be something we may research for later. Let us know if you have ideas. The goal of the day was to find Carlos Bakery, in Hoboken, from the TV show Cake Boss. We all enjoy watching this and thought it was a good idea to visit. You should take a look at the show sometime. It makes you hungry. This is one thing NJ is known for plus who woudn't enjoy a pastry. We were so glad once we arrived and were only hoping it was close within walking distance. Megan pulled out her handy iphone to look and sure enough it's only two minutes in walking distance! This made our day.
In my hometown we have a "Where in the World" contest. You bring the Faribault Daily News along to places you have been while you are reading the paper.

After we got our delicious pastries we decided to get a bite to eat at a little pizza joint. Here is where we heard those New Jersey accents we had been searching for. Very entertaining!

Notice how Megan's pizza is as big as her face!

While we were walking the streets to get from shop to shop we were practicing our saying of Hoboken. This is a challenge for anyone from Minnesota. We often like to put a lot of stress on the second "o". Maybe we will have it down by the time we leave.

We made our way down to the water walkway. Here we saw the most gorgeous site of New York. We could look out and see the Empire State Building, World Trade Center being built, and so many others. We were down there at a perfect timing with the sun setting as well. Here are some photos.

Tomorrow we are back to school to finally have a real first day on our own with the kids and other teachers. We will be up nice and early at 5am. Remind you that is 4am in Minnesota.

Till then, Heidi
